The National Think Tank is a collaborative forum that will bring together individuals with lived experience, policymakers, child welfare leaders, and researchers to co-create informed federal policy solutions and best practices that prioritize youth voice, protect families, and promote equitable outcomes. The invitation-only event will focus on developing actionable strategies to enhance how adoptions are conducted, supported, and sustained nationwide.
Discussion Focus areas:
- Consent and Consultation: Ensuring youth are included in decisions throughout the adoption process.
- Adoption Photo Listing Security: Creating guidelines for the safe and ethical use of photo listings.
- Recruitment: Exploring promising practices in family recruitment and child-specific recruitment models.
- Post-Adoption Support: Identifying effective support services to ensure long-term family success.
- Equity and Disproportionality: Addressing disparities in adoption outcomes to create a more equitable system for all youth.
