A Decade of Dedication
In 2015, Ashley and Ed Brown set out to make the world a better place for children in foster care; a world where every child has a family, youth know they belong and that their voices matter.
As an adoptee, Ashley’s passion was to help children find their forever families. Ed aspired to support youth aging out of foster care. Together, they started Selfless Love Foundation, fostering dreams for foster children.
In 2025, we are celebrating 10 Years of Selfless Love and the thousands of lives that have been changed through adoption, independent living, and advocacy.

Foster youth voice month
Nearly 400,000 children are in foster care in the United States. Selfless Love Foundation believes youth impacted by foster care deserve a say in the decisions that affect them. Each October, SLF spearheads Foster Youth Voice Month to elevate youth voice nationwide and impact policy.
More than 30 states are participating in Foster Youth Voice Month 2024, celebrating youth voice in action and showcasing how youths’ experiences and ideas are transforming the child welfare system.

Honoring Our Founder
Selfless Love Foundation is proud to share national recognition of our Founder & CEO Ashley Brown. Along with her leadership and vision, The George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award honors Ashley for demonstrating extraordinary traits including integrity, empathy, respect, optimism, conviction in the face of opposition, and belief in the power of the human spirit.
The 2024 Awards Celebration was held in Washington, D.C. at the Capital Hilton on October 23.
Breaking barriers for youth
national think tank report
Selfless Love Foundation hosted a National Think Tank in October 2023, bringing together youth with lived experience and child welfare professionals from 28 states to explore policies and practices to better support youth aging out of foster care.
The goal was to emphasize the importance of intentional permanency planning for older youth and collaborate to build long-term support systems for youth.
Chapin Hall produced a report detailing the discussions and highlighting effective strategies.
Advocacy Leads to New Law!
Selfless Love Foundation’s advocacy work has led to a new Florida Law securing the photos of children in foster care who are available for adoption. For more than two years, SLF, staff champions, and youth advocates worked together to remove public access to photos of vulnerable children. This legislative win for safety and youth voice took effect on July 1!
2024 dream tank competition
Selfless Love Foundation helps to advance the dreams of youth formerly in foster care. The Dream Tank Competition is the capstone of Selfless Love Foundation’s independent living initiative. Youth from across Florida were selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain the skills and support to advance their goals.
Christella Jean-Pierre won the competition with her dream of implementing uniform resources to promote resilience in the lives of the most vulnerable youth.

Adoption
Selfless Love Foundation’s innovative approach to adoption, awareness campaigns, and working with agencies across the state of Florida has resulted in over 700 children connected with families and over 300 adoptions in just four years.
Independent Living
Selfless Love Foundation’s collaboration with child welfare leaders, training, resources, and advocacy is impacting the outcomes of over 1,000 youth who exit the foster care system in Florida each year.
