FOSTER YOUTH VOICE MONTH
The OVI-led movement aims at giving youth with lived experience a seat at the table to be able to have a voice in decisions that impact their lives and advocate for systems change.

OVI provides current and former foster youth opportunities to develop important leadership and life skills, to advocate for policy and practice changes and to be a part of community youth leaders making a difference in child welfare today and for generations to come.
MISSION:
OVI seeks to harness authentic youth voice, create space for youth and young adults with lived experience to work alongside system leaders to find solutions to local issues, and provide a platform for statewide collaboration.
PURPOSE:
The aim of OVI is not only to impact young leaders but also to elevate youth engagement techniques, empower young people to become leaders. and build a grassroots movement to transform the child welfare system.

If I want to be successful, I must first believe in myself, I know that I am capable of anything, and live out these beliefs every day. The leadership trainings have taught me that if I don’t believe in myself first, nobody else will.
We were ready to give up on our dream...
when we were asked if we would be interested in meeting twin boys. The rest is history.
We waited over one year to be matched with a child and almost gave up.
In less than one month of registering on Family-Match, we were matched with two siblings and adopted them in less than three months. I hope our story gives hope to other families not to give up on your dream of adopting.

Dale Carnegie Training taught me how to communicate in my personal and professional life.
Workshop with Elysze Held
She taught us how to dress appropriately for job interviews, and how to have fun with our own personal style. It helped me prepare for job interviews and dressing for success!
Brown’s Harbor
When I was 17, I was left homeless for two months and still in high school. Then I found Brown’s Harbor and my life changed forever.
We were waiting, but not just waiting for “any child”, we were waiting for “our” child
We were waiting for the child that was supposed to come to our family. All 3 of our children are exactly where they’re supposed to be.
We were matched in less than two months!
We waited over one year the first time, but with our second child we registered on Family-Match and in less than two months we were matched. I know it was because we were able to create a profile on Family-Match which allowed us to share videos, photos, and paint a story of our family for case workers over the entire state of Florida to have access to.
